During my Adobe Creative Residency at V&A Museum I also wanted to explore occupational therapy as a design process. I collaborated with an occupational therapist to create the ‘Cookbook that’s not a cookbook’. The cookbook is ‘designed for one’ and aims to support dexterity which is involved in cooking and eating, not being able to eat certain foods, fatigue, executive function and sequencing information. There are around 160 digital illustrations, 28 recipes and QR codes to how to films. Also includes a template for people to adapt to meet their own requirements. I also made plates to accompany the cookbook about food avoidance and show images of food related objects in the V&A collection.
Research in Occupational Therapy as a design process we looked at Canadian Model of Occupational Participation and the Design Council ‘Double Diamond’, see below. We used this process during the year as they are both similar models.
